Riviera Produce – Sponsorship of Annual Accounts

As a registered Company and Charity, GGSCF has to prepare annual accounts which are submitted to Companies’ House and the Charity Commission.  We are fortunate that the cost of this has been sponsored by Riviera Produce, who are based in the Parish.

The Gwinear-Gwithian parish is the centre of the UK for winter cauliflower and spring greens production. From the parish of Gwinear-Gwithian cauliflowers, cabbages, courgettes and broccoli are sent all over the country on a daily basis satisfying a large percentage of the country’s needs 12 months of the year, Riviera Produce is proud to be taking a leading part in promoting Cornish Produce nationwide.

Here is a brief history of their Company.

David Simmons’ family farm was established in 1870 and now covers over 5000 acres from an original 160. Since 1994 Riviera has supplied fresh produce direct to its’ customers from a purpose built facility near Hayle in Cornwall, and was the first Cornish supplier to take this direct approach.

Riviera Produce currently markets around 40% of the cauliflower and spring greens grown in Cornwall and in 2004 the company was listed as one of the top 100 fastest growing companies by the Sunday times – the same year that David Simmons received the Excellence In Practical Farming Award.

Riviera sources produce from 14 dedicated Assured Produce certificated growers with a geographic spread across Cornwall to assure continuity of supply.

Riviera is proud to represent Cornwall as a whole on a number of industry panels and is the only produce company to have representation at the Royal Show and Royal Cornwall show.

Riviera continually invests in the latest technology for planting, crop management, harvesting and irrigation equipment. This continual investment enables us to ensure the best possible quality and continuity throughout the year. This long track record of dedicated service means that when we commit to supply – we do! That’s why we’re proud to claim to be “Cornwall’s grower of choice”.
