Connor Downs Elizabeth Sampson Playing Field

In July 2023 £16,400 grant awarded for a Project Management Team to develop a community and play area at the Elizabeth Sampson Playing Field (ESPF) and in July 2025 £20,000 grant awarded for its Path and Surface. The project management team was vital to the success of the entire project.  They undertook all the consultation to make sure everyone was involved in the plan to create the park and included the link path which has been a great success, it is already being extremely well used providing full access for everyone and all age groups while maintaining a meaningful space for play, informal sports and community events. The revitalised space has provided a much-needed hub for recreation, play, access to nature and relaxation, supporting physical and mental health, encouraging social interaction, and strengthening community spirit.

“Amazing! Nice to have a park we can walk to and enjoy.”

“I live in the village and youngsters come down and turn left after my house to up to the Park. I have really noticed a considerable increase in children and families turning to go to the park, especially after school and at weekends. When I walked up to the park just after it had opened in February every piece of equipment was being used. What an asset for the village!”

“I designed the swings and zip slide and remember doing it out of sticks and pipe cleaners and I love the park so much. (context – the project managers attended local schools and carried out workshops where the children created their dream park using mediums such as sticks and pipe cleaners, this is a quote from the opening day video)”
