Hayle Memory Café Special Sessions

£745.00 grant for Hayle Memory Café to provide a wider variety of activities for people to enjoy. Music is one of the last things that go for people with dementia and it is something that they can enjoy with their carer/loved one. It encourages communication and reminiscing giving them something to share and creating a sense of wellbeing and worth. They enjoy playing, singing, dancing, making things and taking them home, proving that they are still able to join in and produce something of value to them, everyone leaves smiling and happy.  Numbers have been growing and continue to grow, the word is spreading and now regularly there are between 45 and 50 people attending. The grant has enabled the Café to continue to bring in entertainers even with costs increasing, it gives carers and their person with dementia the opportunity to do something positive together and gives carers time to interact with other carers and offer each other support outside of the Café. The grant has far reaching benefits.

“I can’t tell you how much Mum enjoys coming here and I have so much fun too”

“It’s like he comes alive again when he is here. You all talk to him and it doesn’t matter how many times he says the same thing you all have time for him and me”

“I don’t think you realise how much this means to us. You have saved my life.”

“I never expected to make friends. I had lost so many because of her disease, so it was so good to meet people in the same boat as me”
